The rasende Roland

The "Rasende Roland" is a narrow-gauge railway that is over 100 years old and is operated by steam. The historic railway still runs between Lauterbach Mole and Göhren. The route also passes through Binz. A trip with the "Rasender Roland", e.g. from Binz to Göhren, is a real experience. Not only the historic small railway but also the impressive and changing landscape will inspire you. Experience the island from its most beautiful side. SIGHTS ALONG THE WAY:

Seebad Prora

The seaside resort of Prora is known for the "Colossus of Rügen" - an architectural legacy of the "Third Reich". A seaside resort was to be built between the towns of Binz and Sassnitz where 20,000 people could holiday at the same time. The heart of the seaside resort was to be the approx. 4.5 km long building complex built between 1936 and 1939. Today, this gigantic building complex is used for various purposes. Among other things, it houses the Prora Documentation Centre and the permanent exhibition "MACHTUrlaub - Das KdF-Seebad Rügen und die deutsche Volksgemeinschaft".

Granitz Hunting Lodge

A popular destination on the island of Rügen is the Granitz Hunting Lodge in Binz, built between 1837 and 1846. In the middle of a lush forest landscape, directly on the Tempelberg in the south-east of the island of Rügen, the 38-metre high striking tower of the castle towers high and can be seen from afar. When visibility is good, you can see the whole of Rügen from the tower. It is not possible to reach the castle by car. Why not enjoy a romantic train ride on the narrow-gauge railway, or take a sporty bike ride? By bike or on foot, the distance between the hotel and the castle is approx. 4km.
